at the entrance to the square and park. A journey through the park led us to discover a beautiful rose garden, musical bench and statue to the honour of Chopin.
We also enjoyed walking around discovering red squirrels,
peacocks
and the ‘Palace on the Lake’.
From here we went to the
Warsaw Uprising Museum – a very busy place filled with pictures, sounds and artefacts from the uprising in 1944 which lasted 63 days and cost close to 200,000 lives. Our next stop was a walking tour through the old town which included lots of information about how the city was rebuilt after the total destruction caused by the second world war.
This was our last scheduled stop before free time. Laurie took this great picture of Chopin’s organ.
The evening included a drive by the site of the Warsaw Ghetto,
wonderful dinner,
then an even better Chopin Concert performed by pianist Maria Skurjat-Silva.
