Sunday October 23rd 2011 – Ticket Pick-up

On Sunday – the 9 of us that are from the Lower Mainland
gathered at Barb and Harry’s for final instructions and to pick up our travel packs. The rest of the group received their packages by mail. What an exciting time – only two weeks to go!
A couple of things we did – besides getting to know each other – was to check our ‘tickets’ to make sure the name on the ticket is the same as our passports. We also reviewed cash requirements and recommendations of how much Neuvo Sol to take with us (no more than $100 Canadian worth).
Barb and Harry offered to hold anyone’s passport once we arrive in Peru – just for safekeeping – as we will always have a safe.
We reminded everyone to read through the book that Rostad has so carefully put together. The inside of the cover has fabulous quick tips regarding luggage size and weight, carryon bags, walking shoes, health drinking water, money, weather and altitude considerations.
We were also reminded that we will need a small bag for our trip to Machu Picchu.
Another reminder – check your electrical equipment – to make sure it has a built in converter as the power in Peru is 220 – even though the plugs are the same!
Sunday November 6th – 17 of us head out from all across the country –to meet in Toronto and to stay overnight at the Courtyard Marriott Toronto
Airport Hotel. We should have some great pictures from our gathering at the Hotel. The next day we will head over to the Airport to meet with the other 11 in our group and head off to Lima Peru!!
