All 28 of us arrived safe and sound, touching down in Lima
close to 11 pm, ready for our Peruvian adventure. The group who arrived Sunday in Toronto had a leisurely morning walking, swimming, picture taking, reading or just getting to know our travel companions. For others, it was a full day of travel, early morning to catch a flight, then transfers
from one flight to another in Toronto.
For Gerald and Jeannette - time spent on the tarmac in Winnipeg, transfer to another flight and arrive at the departure gate in Toronto just as the rest are loading onto the flight to Lima. Phew – a few anxious moments! Will the luggage get transferred over? The flight – uneventful, movies to watch, books to read, a few winks of sleep, a not so bad Air Canada meal and snack – thank goodness for free wine, then forms to fill (does anyone have a magnifying glass?).
Next stop – line up for immigration
– a long line,
but lots of wickets and personnel, a couple with visible handicaps (Barbara, Harry and Pat) got to go through the Priority Line up so got to the luggage pick-up earlier. Thank goodness for those Canadian flag tags and Rostad tags and straps that make luggage identification easy. By the time all had cleared immigration all the bags(yes ALL of the bags) had been collected, so we were off through customs and on to meet our guide Jaime (pronounced hime), then onto the bus and time to check in at the Sheraton – a gorgeous hotel in the centre of Lima. Quickly into bed to get much needed rest to prepare for our
exciting Peruvian Adventure.
