This morning’s wake-up call was the earliest so far – 5:30, with bags out and breakfast at 6:30. But first, last evening, Just 5 people went to the Magical Water Fountains, Alan, Gerald and Jeanette, Ken and of course our guide Jaimie. The rest of us wimped out because we were too tired and dreading the early morning get-up.
From all accounts, it was well worth being a little tired this morning –
just a few pictures from the show – thanks to Jeannette.
Our flight from Lima to Cusco was about 90 minutes in a plane with about 90 seats – no turbulence, and some time spent in the clouds, but other times with a clear view to the landscape below. Here are a few pictures
from the plane window.
When we arrived we took our hike
to the baggage area where porters were very efficiently removing our bags. There were also a lot of musical instruments coming off as well, and we soon learned there was a group from Mexico who are in Cusco to perform at the Coliseum. A few of our members made sure to get a picture taken with this ‘Folk Group’ the Broncos.
Next – time to check into our hotel - Hotel Picoaga – a lovely facility with comfortable rooms. The afternoon was spent taking a nap, getting acclimatized to the altitude (about 3400 metres) and recovering from the early morning.
The rest of the afternoon was spent exploring
– culminating in happy hour at 6:30 and dinner at 7:15. During a wonderful dinner we were entertained by a very talented harpist.
This made for a quiet and pleasant way to end the evening, then it was off to bed for a much needed sleep.
